Helping West Virginia Move Forward

The Westfield Foundation awarded a grant to support recovery in West Virginia where a deadly 1,000-year flood took lives and destroyed homes in June 2016.

In the wake of the 1,000-year floods that devastated communities across West Virginia in 2016, Westfield Insurance Foundation awarded two grants to West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) to further the recovery of individuals and families affected by the historic flooding. With the guidance of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, the Westfield Insurance Foundation has dedicated their disaster grantmaking efforts to focus intentionally on disaster recovery. They have a keen understanding of how long recovery can take and a commitment to creating long-term partnerships with disaster-responding organizations. We’re proud to work with Westfield Insurance to help them support disaster recovery!
