With support from The Simmons Foundation, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy is hosting biweekly briefings for funders seeking to share information or learn of opportunities as the state of Texas continues its recovery from the late summer hurricane. The briefings will be held every other week on Mondays at 2:00pm Central time.
Hurricane Harvey Recovery: Biweekly Funder Briefings
Monday, February 26, 2018
3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT
This briefing will focus on how the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) are engaging in recovery efforts. Grantmakers will be given an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and also to share information on their own efforts related to Harvey during the second part of the briefing.
These briefings are designed to be a valuable method of educating local and national grantmakers on best practices in disaster philanthropy, as well as informing the audience of new funds being established. This information exchange is critical for encouraging collaboration, and ensuring there are no major gaps in funding the needs of affected communities.
Written summaries of each meeting and an archived recording will be available in The Simmons Foundation Hurricane Harvey Issue Area.
