Inform your funding decisions. To fund disaster recovery in the smartest manner possible, it is important that you have the opportunity to learn from best practices. The CDP team develops comprehensive, results-oriented research that helps you leverage your mission and deliver measurable results. For a national data project, we developed a comprehensive state-by-state database that tracked the types of disasters prevalent in the area, the timing of disasters, and the organizations on site or prepared to deploy in a disaster event.
Build community capacity. Collaborating with The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, we are increasing the internal capacity for a group of Midwest community foundations and regional associations to lead and respond to disasters. Funded by Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, the Philanthropic Preparedness, Resiliency, and Emergency Partnership (PPREP) provides participating organizations a five-year program of regular webinars, site visits, and in-person meetings with disaster, organizational, and philanthropic leaders.
Grow your network. Benefit from the expertise of a national network of philanthropic leaders and prepare for all phases of a disaster when you set up your custom Disaster Philanthropy Playbook. Developed in partnership with the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers and in association with the United Philanthropy Forum, CDP continues to build and update this comprehensive, interactive resource. CDP has also produced the Disaster Preparedness Workbook for Community Foundations to help you assess organizational preparedness and internal capacity, not only to weather a disaster, but to provide ongoing support for your communities.
Increase internal engagement. To deepen your awareness of the important work your funding supports, we provide regular updates and engagement opportunities through our newsletter, events, research, funding guides, and other resources.
