Just in Time for Christmas
After flash floods in Waseca, Minnesota, forced a family out of their home, Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota leveraged a Midwest Early Recovery Fund grant and the generosity of several local volunteers to move the family back into their home just in time for Christmas.
For the final push to complete this house in time for the holidays, a church group was fortunate to have unseasonably warm weather to enable exterior painting. Two retired contractors donated their time to install new kitchen cabinetry (pictured right) that was made available to the client for 25 percent of regular retail price by the local Habitat for Humanity.
Two professional construction workers donated their time to finish replacing some rotted-out siding (pictured above ) using materials paid for by their church. The family was able to start moving in the very next week, just in time for Christmas!
