Kait is a finance and operations associate at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP). In her role, she supports several processes integral to CDP’s financial and operational functions, including payroll, accounts payable, audit, billing, banking, and other administrative tasks.
Kait was introduced to nonprofit organizations and disaster relief efforts through serving with AmeriCorps NCCC. During her service year, Kait served on a disaster deployment providing hands-on support to those affected by the 2016 flooding in Louisiana. Kait continued her work in disaster relief by serving on deployments in New York City after Superstorm Sandy and in Texas after Hurricane Harvey, where she worked directly with individuals to provide short- and long-term recovery resources.
After moving back to New York, Kait was drawn to working with nonprofit organizations. She first developed her finance and nonprofit accounting skills working for MercyFirst, a nonprofit foster care agency. Several years later, Kait moved to the Finger Lakes region of New York and continued her nonprofit journey by working as the executive coordinator at the Finger Lakes Land Trust. Through this role, Kait further developed skills in accounting, project management, executive assistance and nonprofit leadership.
Kait loves to explore the local flavor and natural beauty of the Finger Lakes in New York state. She has enjoyed learning about the local ecosystems and how to work with them to establish a permaculture garden and support native habitats. When she isn’t in the garden, Kait can be found listening to live music, dancing and snuggling with her adorable Corgi puppy Macy.
