Mental Health in Rural Communities Post-Disaster
In March 2017, wildfires consumed 781,000 acres in Oklahoma. The following year, another 350,000 acres were burned. These wildfires devastated farmers and ranchers. They lost their livelihoods and their legacies.
Disasters exacerbate the need for mental health services, that’s why the CDP Midwest Early Recovery Fund provided grants to support emotional and spiritual recovery and resilience in rural communities devastated by the wildfires.
