Chief Operating Officer

Brenda Camacho is the chief operating officer of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy and a member of the organization’s executive leadership team. She oversees all aspects of CDP’s business operations, including financial strategy and stewardship, investments, budgeting, contracts, audit and tax compliance, financial due diligence for grantmaking, human resources, information technology, and regulatory requirements.

In her role, Brenda plays a critical part in strengthening CDP’s operational resilience, advancing digital transformation, fostering an organizational culture of belonging and ensuring the organization’s infrastructure supports its long-term mission and strategic growth.

Brenda is a seasoned nonprofit leader with more than 25 years of experience across philanthropy, social services, health care and membership-based organizations. Throughout her career, she has focused on building strong organizational infrastructure and aligning resources with mission priorities to support sustainable growth. She has led all areas of business operations and partnered closely with program, development and fundraising teams to ensure that strategy, costs and outcomes are tightly aligned.

Brenda is deeply committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, having led organizational DEI initiatives, including equitable hiring practices and learning journeys to raise awareness of bias. She is a member of the Future Good DEI Leaders Network and currently serves as board treasurer for Futuro Media Group, Inc.

She holds a master’s in accounting from the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business at Nova Southeastern University. She has been recognized for her leadership as a Washington Business Journal CFO of the Year (2015) and DCA Live Nonprofit CFO of the Year (2021).

Brenda lives in Leesburg, Virginia.
