As strategy and innovation associate, Katie supports research, process documentation, administrative tasks, and data organization and management.
Before joining the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Katie worked for Harm Reduction Ohio, assisting in various research projects, social media and merchandise management, process analysis and documentation, and community-based opioid overdose response training. From previous work in the public health sector, Katie brings a unique perspective on harm reduction principles and works to meet people where they are, focusing on those with lived experience to best implement policies.
Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a focus on International Human Rights from the University of Cincinnati. Her studies included analyzing international aid projects, the history of refugee policy, mental health care in public education and public health policy.
Katie is based in Columbus, Ohio. She loves to try local diners and coffee shops, spend time at the public library, collage with thrifted magazines, garden, hammock wherever there are trees, and bake. If she isn’t with her cats Winnie and Wilbur, she’s likely at the movies, attending her amateur pottery class or planning a trip to a national park.
