Krishna Smit
Development Associate
Krishna Smit is a development associate at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), supporting philanthropic efforts that advance disaster recovery and community resilience. An Iowa native, Krishna earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and public health from Augustana College, a Master of Public Health in health policy from the University of Iowa and a Master of Public Administration in nonprofit management from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Prior to joining CDP, Krishna worked in development and community health at smaller nonprofit organizations, with experience in grant funding, partnership building and community-based programming. Her work has focused on advancing Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander health through commercial tobacco prevention and policy initiatives in Iowa and California. Krishna brings a background in public health, nonprofit management and advancing health equity through community-centered approaches.
Krishna lives in Bettendorf, Iowa, and continues to support the local nonprofit community through her involvement with AFP Quad Cities. She is also a member of Lead(h)er, a local women’s leadership organization, where she serves on the Fundraising Committee.
