Taylor Chapman

Marketing and Communications Associate

Taylor Chapman serves as the marketing and communications associate at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. In her role, she supports CDP’s marketing and communications team in fulfilling departmental goals and tasks, including the execution of strategies involving the website, social media, brand management, webinars and other activities.

Taylor brings experience advancing social justice through impact storytelling, multimedia content design and community engagement. Before joining CDP, Taylor served as communications manager for Grantmakers for Southern Progress, where she built the organization’s communications infrastructure, led brand development, and drove strategic storytelling and campaign execution to expand visibility, deepen funder engagement, and support major programs and events.

Previously, she managed a $1 million grant fund with the Babcock Foundation that expanded access to COVID-19 relief resources for undocumented immigrants and refugees in the Southern United States. She also worked with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, where she spearheaded strategic communication campaigns focused on abortion access, period equity, sex education, and health services for queer and transgender patients.

Taylor grew up poor in the Appalachian foothills of Western North Carolina. While her class background ignited her desire to dismantle unjust systems, her community gave her a sense of humor, grit, and a deep conviction towards caring for all people. Taylor earned her bachelor’s in English and women’s and gender studies and her master’s in women’s and gender studies, with research centered on the intersections of fat liberation, biopolitics, and racial justice.

In her spare time, Taylor loves to DIY, go to concerts and collect books faster than she can read them.
