Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the surge in anti-Asian racism has revealed the depth and complexities of racial bigotry and misogyny that exist across the United States. It is rooted in the white supremacy that also fuels anti-Black racism and seeks to divide our country across racial identities.
At the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), we stand in solidarity with our Asian American friends, colleagues and partners, and allies against racism, white supremacy, gendered violence and violence against communities of color.
We are steadfast in our commitment to investing in organizations led by or accountable to Asian American and Pacific Islander, Black, Indigenous and Latinx communities. We will continue to address systemic social and political disparities as part of a holistic and intersectional approach to securing long-term equitable recovery after disasters. We promise to continue learning from and following the lead of underrepresented and underserved communities in our collective efforts to ensure all communities are safe and thrive.
