Nicol La Cumbre-Gibbs
Education Initiatives Manager
Nicol La Cumbre-Gibbs serves as the education initiatives manager for the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. In this role, she coordinates education initiatives for both donors and CDP staff, deploying creative adult training techniques for instructional content and curriculum development and collaborating with teams across the organization to advance learning outcomes for philanthropic audiences.
Nicol holds an MS in Environmental Health. She has utilized her expertise in environmental justice and public health to design and scale high school science curricula and lead award-winning community-based environmental hazard research at two Superfund sites. Nicol also trained hundreds of industry professionals on climate resilience techniques and supported the Women in Sustainability and Energy event series while working for the nonprofit Building Energy Exchange. Most recently, she led the development of Nest’s Climate Academy, a national all-hazards disaster education program for craft business owners.
Raised in London, Nicol now lives in New York City, where her passion for community and environmental justice also inspires her to organize environmental and animal welfare events.
