Center for Disaster Philanthropy Now Accepting Donations Through Google Play to Support COVID-19 Response and Recovery

WASHINGTON (March 10, 2020) — As the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread, organizations around the world are taking action. From March 9 – April 6, 2020, people can donate to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s (CDP) COVID-19 Response Fund directly from the Google Play Store. 100 percent of these donations will go to CDP to help support preparedness, containment, response and recovery activities for those affected and for the responders working to contain the virus and treat those who are affected. Users in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Taiwan and Indonesia can donate.

Many people in the U.S. and around the world are wondering what the impact will be on their personal lives and on their communities. With this opportunity, donors can assist in efforts that not only help with getting people prepared but also help with the efforts to make them, their cities and towns more resilient and ready to respond.

CDP is a well-respected organization that focuses on medium- to long-term recovery after disasters with a targeted, holistic grantmaking approach. This means donations will help local communities be better positioned to respond to an outbreak and to recover. Dollars will be deployed to help support vulnerable individuals in quarantine and those on the front lines battling the COVID-19 outbreak, including healthcare workers.

People can donate through the Google Play app or by visiting play.google.com/donate. Play Points users in the U.S. will also be able to use points to donate to CDP by redeeming through the Play Points section in the Google Play app.
