Collective Action for Greater Traction

Current events demand immediate action. We are working to raise $1 million to galvanize attention around the refugee crisis and to directly support organizations working in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey.

Time and again, the funder community has demonstrated itself to be incredibly generous, compassionate, and dedicated to improving the lives of the underserved. The situation the world is currently facing, with the global refugee crisis showing no signs of abating, is the loudest call for collaboration I have seen in recent times.

Fact—More than 65 million people are currently displaced worldwide.
Fact—More than half of those displaced are refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, and Somalia.
Fact—For the next three months, the United States has suspended refugee admissions and banned refugees from Syria from entering the United States indefinitely.

Millions are displaced, millions are in limbo unsure of their citizenship status, and millions are dependent upon external humanitarian assistance.

The CDP Global Refugee Crisis Fund was founded in late 2015 with the goal of providing funders with the opportunity to collectively act—taking immediate action to both address the needs refugees and displaced persons are facing as well as prepare for the needs and challenges they will face in subsequent months. The fund serves as a vehicle for cooperation—a place where funders can pool their resources, provide much-needed assistance to refugee and displaced communities, and maximize their impact.
The fund has already made a difference. Through grant awards to Mercy Corps and Concern Worldwide, women and children have access to safe spaces and psychosocial support within the Syrian border. The courageous work being undertaken by these two organizations means that hundreds will be protected from undue harm. Without the generosity of fund contributors, this work would have not been possible.
