CDP Pre-Check

Through CDP Pre-Check, we complete due diligence on response, recovery or humanitarian organizations ahead of a disaster to help us assess their potential for receiving a grant from CDP or other funders. Our process includes reviewing each organization’s mission, programs, governance structure and financial stability.

See if you qualify for CDP Pre-Check

Pre-Check will only be undertaken on disaster response/recovery or humanitarian organizations that CDP believes will receive multiple CDP grants or would be recommended multiple times to clients. It is rare that we will fund organizations that don’t have an ongoing focus on disasters or CHEs.

Pre-Check will only be undertaken on 501(c)(3) organizations (including fiscal sponsors on behalf of a non-501(c)(3) organization). We conduct Pre-Check primarily on organizations with an international, national or multistate focus. State or local organizations will not be reviewed unless in response to a specific disaster.

If you meet the above criteria and believe your organization qualifies for Pre-Check, email precheck@disasterphilanthropy.org and ask for more information. Please provide a link to your website, a summary of disaster services and your current 990.

What if I don’t qualify for CDP Pre-Check?

Domestic organizations: For state and local disaster-serving 501(c)(3) or fiscally-sponsored organizations, we still want to know what you are up to. Please add the director of learning and partnerships and the director of domestic funds to your email lists for updates during disaster responses. If you are not a 501(c)(3), please reach out to the staff but understand it is highly unlikely we will be able to provide much support.

International organizations: For non-U.S.-based NGOs, please keep us informed of your activities. You do not have to be a 501(c)(3) organization to receive funds from CDP.

We are CDP active grantee partners. How do we join Pre-Check?

CDP grantee partners will be added to Pre-Check if their grant was carried out successfully and they meet the criteria listed above. Please talk to your grant director to confirm.
