Building Trust and Enthusiasm in Partnerships

In order to help bring down costs for repairing damaged roofs in Red Lake, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSSMN) worked with HEART Warehouse to secure donated building materials, including 132 bundles of shingles and several rolls of undelay. As a thank you for St. Mary’s Mission in Red Lake agreeing to house 20 visiting volunteers for two weeks, HEART also provided several boxes of gym bouncy balls for St. Mary’s school. Red Lake Nation partners were very happy to receive these items so early in the collaboration, building trust and eagerness to work together.

LSSMN received a grant from the Midwest Early Recovery Fund to support their work, including database development and support, disaster case management services, reconstruction management, and volunteer coordination in response to disasters in Minnesota.
