Feeling Like Home Again
When spring floods hit Missouri, Vikki’s home was inundated with more than five feet of water. She lost everything, including priceless items like pictures of her children, and had to be evacuated from her home by the highway patrol. After the flood, Vikki was able to find safe housing, but she didn’t have any furniture, clothing or household items. With support from a Midwest Early Recovery Fund grant, Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri was able to deliver much-needed items to Vikki, including a mattress donated by Neville and Sons, clothing, a bookcase, kitchen utensils and a chair. Some items can never be replaced, but getting these essential items was a key step in making Vikki’s new house feel like home again.
