Inspiring Hope in Minnesota

The 2016 flash floods in Waseca, Minnesota left this home with severe water and mold damage, and a $45,000 rebuild estimate. With a grant from the Midwest Early Recovery Fund, a team from Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota worked to help the family repair their home. They coordinated a group of skilled volunteers from Watermark Mission who invested more than 800 hours drywalling, replacing windows, electrical rewiring (under professional supervision), repairing a sunken front stoop and cleaning up the exterior. The team’s hard work and the generosity of local businesses that donated materials gave the homeowner tremendous hope, and inspired other local volunteers to step forward to help complete the repairs.
