Lifting Each Other Up

The EF-3 tornado that tore through Eureka, Kansas in June 2018 damaged 78 homes, 12 of which were unlivable and 10 more destroyed. United Way of the Flint Hills, Mennonite Disaster Services and Greenwood County LTRC have been helping families repair and rebuild their homes. The tornado survivor in this photo, a disabled father of two, was lifted up to the attic to be a part of his own recovery. He spent time working with the volunteers to repair his home. United Way of the Flint Hills received a grant from the Midwest Early Recovery Fund to support reconstruction management and volunteer coordination in response to the tornado in Kansas.
