Quick Repairs for Family in Need

The single mother of two who lives in this house had just moved in a few weeks before a tornado tore through the area and destroyed the roof. With CDP funds, Greenwood County LTRC and United Way of the Flint Hills were able to obtain material bids, present the case to the Unmet Needs Committee, secure funding and begin work to repair the roof within three weeks of obtaining the material list. The family is incredibly grateful that they’ll soon have a solid roof over their heads once again. United Way of the Flint Hills received a grant from the Midwest Early Recovery Fund to support reconstruction management and volunteer coordination in response to a tornado in Kansas.
