Spreading Joy in Difficult Times

The student pictured here lived in a run-down home in Van Buren, Missouri that was flooded in May 2017. More than eight months after the flood, her home still hadn’t been repaired. In addition to showering at school daily, she had to bring her clothes to school to be washed. Despite the difficult circumstances, she had a smile on her face every day and spread joy to everyone around her.

Thanks to a grant from the Midwest Early Recovery Fund, Whole Kids Outreach was able to hire an additional social worker to support children and families affected by the flood. The social worker helped this girl’s mother to find better housing. Now she has even more reason to smile.
