I am thrilled to share that Brenda Camacho will start her new role as Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s chief financial and operations officer on Monday, May 1.

Brenda is a seasoned nonprofit executive with extensive experience in finance, accounting, business operations, systems design and more. In 2021 while serving as National Recreation and Park Association’s vice president of operations and CFO, DCA Live recognized Brenda as a “Non Profit Star CFO” for her leadership and extraordinary contributions to the growth and health of the organization. And in 2015, the Washington Business Journal named Brenda CFO of the Year.

She succeeds Jennifer Commander, who is retiring from her role as CDP’s CFO, a position she has held for more than eight years. During her tenure, Jennifer was critical in shepherding CDP’s organizational advancement and tremendous growth. We are grateful for Jennifer’s hard work, dedication and contributions. We will miss her!

An avid traveler born in Puerto Rico who has spent years in New York, Florida and the D.C. Metro Area, Brenda brings her passion for equity and justice and her lifelong learning journey on culture and identity at an exciting time as we begin implementing CDP’s new three-year strategic plan. The plan, which builds on lessons and successes from the past years, will take us closer to a world where all communities can recover stronger after a disaster.

Please join us in welcoming Brenda!
