ATC “When Disaster Strikes Fund”
When disaster strikes, artists are often the first to respond—through donations, concerts and promotions, and by using their cache to secure media coverage.
San Francisco-based company Air Traffic Control (ATC) helps connect musicians, comedians and other artists to philanthropic issues close to their hearts. With an increase in disaster-related gifts being made by artists and their fans, ATC will launch a new fund “When Disaster Strikes,” to be managed by the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP).
“We co-created the ‘When Disaster Strikes Fund’ with CDP to make it easier and more impactful for our artists to track, amplify and fund long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in the wake of catastrophic disasters,” Potts added.
ATC will handle all aspects of raising dollars for the When Disaster Strikes Fund, and will turn to CDP for advice on where it can best make an impact. CDP will handle all due diligence and make granting recommendations to ATC.
“Quite often artists want to help, and they have the means to help in a significant way. As more people begin to understand that disaster recovery takes months and years, they are looking for opportunities beyond funding immediate relief in an effort to make a longer-term impact with their philanthropic dollars.
